History:

Our founder and CEO Rick Barnett is the brain behind our operation. He spent his 20s painting portraits but spent much of his time looking for an artistic way to connect with others on a real level.

Rick’s entrepreneurial spirit quickly kicked in. It wasn’t long before he took ownership of an existing studio, Rick changed the name in 2009, and the first Fine Ink Studio® was born.

While tattooing has gone mainstream over the last decade, the industry has lagged behind. There are very few standards as almost all tattoo shops are individually owned by a tattoo artist.

That’s where Fine Ink enters, we legitimized the tattoo industry.

The massage business went through a similar business model

revolution a decade ago when they transitioned from massage parlors with questionable reputations to todays Message Envy and Hand and Stone model that have thousands of locations and are located in retail centers everywhere.  The tattoo industry is poised for similar growth.

Fine Ink Studios provides a comprehensive training program designed to prepare every franchisee for success—whether they are new to business ownership or already experienced in the tattoo and piercing industry. Our multi-layered approach combines online learning, in-person training, and ongoing support.

  • Online Learning Resources: Each franchisee is given access to our digital training portal, which includes detailed Operations Manuals and training videos covering every aspect of opening and operating a Fine Ink Studios location. These resources remain available for reference at any time.

  • Weekly Pre-Opening Check-Ins: In the weeks leading up to their grand opening, franchisees participate in weekly check-ins with our support team. These sessions ensure they stay on track with timelines, understand each step of the setup process, and are fully prepared for launch.

  • In-Person Training at Designated Facilities: All franchisees are required to complete at least 50 hours of hands-on training at one of our designated Fine Ink Studios training facilities. This immersive experience provides a real-world view of daily operations, customer interactions, and team management.

  • Fine Ink Academy: As an added value, franchisees receive access to our Fine Ink Academy, a 17-week training program at no additional cost. This academy is designed for those who want to learn the craft of tattooing or piercing, providing technical skills alongside business and operational training.

  • Ongoing Support: Beyond initial training, franchisees continue to receive guidance through ongoing coaching, access to updated training materials, and opportunities to attend refresher sessions as the brand grows and evolves. Franchisees also have direct contact with our Client Support Department, which is available to answer any questions or address concerns related to operations, marketing, or client management.

Operational and Marketing Tools:

Fine Ink Studios provides franchisees with a full suite of operational and marketing tools designed to simplify daily management and accelerate growth. Our systems are built to help owners focus on what matters most—building relationships, delivering excellent client experiences, and growing their business.

  • Customer Support Department: A dedicated in-house team handles all online client inquiries, ensuring quick responses and a high level of professionalism. This department also manages appointment booking directly with local studio locations, allowing franchisees and staff to focus on service delivery instead of admin work.

  • Comprehensive CRM System: Each franchisee is equipped with a customized Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform. This tool integrates a training portal for staff development, a marketing planner for campaign execution, and features for tracking customer interactions, appointment history, and retention efforts.

  • Social Media Branded Package: Franchisees gain access to a fully branded social media package with templates, graphics, and content guidelines to ensure consistency across all platforms.
