Footprints Floors

a Raintree company

Footprint Floors is a home-based flooring franchise built for people who want to run a real business, not just buy a job. Owners act as project managers and salespeople rather than installers, working directly with homeowners while a trained crew handles the labor — which means low overhead and no need for a retail storefront. Marketing, lead generation, and call response are all handled for them, so owners spend their day where it matters most: face-to-face with customers, not behind a desk. Support doesn’t stop at launch either — dedicated coaching, business reviews, and even in-house recruiting help continue well into year five and beyond, backed by national partnerships like The Tile Shop for preferred pricing, design resources, and lead flow.

Concept Description

Footprints Floors is a unique and innovative business model revolutionizing the flooring industry. While our name may sound like a traditional flooring company, we are far from it! Ultimately, we are a labor company specializing in the installation of floors, not the sale of flooring products.

At Footprints Floors, our Franchise Owners meet with customers, complete the installation estimate, and then allow the customer to source the actual flooring from anywhere they see fit. Once the estimate is performed and the job is booked, Franchise Owners manage subcontractors who complete the labor and spend their time as the main point of contact for the customer, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.

History:

Footprints Floors Founder and CEO Bryan Park attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and served this country in Omaha, Nebraska. Like most who serve, Bryan’s military experience strengthened his belief in, and commitment to, integrity, duty, and leadership. Once Bryan completed his time, he needed to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. He had recently gone back to night school and was searching for an opportunity to make money during the day.

A prime opportunity fell into Bryan’s lap when one night he and his wife went out for dinner and left their 3 puppies at home. While they were out, the puppies completely destroyed the family’s carpet, forcing them to hire a flooring company to fix the damage. While the installer was at his home, Bryan noticed how easy the job looked and inquired how much the man made. When he told him he was making a significant income installing floors, Bryan knew this was the ideal option to do during the day while completing school at night.

Bryan began working for a flooring company installing and sanding floors. Within a couple of years, he moved up to a sales role and from there to a General Manager. Unfortunately, the timing was not on his side as 2008 hit and the flooring company wasn’t able to pay Bryan for 6 months of work. Being the loyal person he is, he decided to stick it out, thinking things would work out and he would be paid the salary he was owed. To his dismay, the company ended up laying him off in November of 2008 and eventually went under. They refused to back pay him but allowed him to take a set of flooring gear when he left.

On December 9, 2008, Bryan launched Footprints Floors in quite possibly the single worst month since the Great Depression to start a home improvement business. He was $40,000 in credit card debt from not being paid for 6 months, had a wife who was 8 ½ months pregnant, a 2-year-old, 4 dogs, and 4 cats all in an 800-square-foot home.

In the beginning, Bryan and his father-in-law would walk the neighborhood hanging flyers on doors and it was not until February that someone called for a job that Bryan completed himself. He took the money he made and invested it back into marketing and from there Footprints Floors took off. By May they had enough sales to have 4 different jobs running simultaneously and subcontractors helping to complete the work.

In 2013, Bryan began to offer franchises only in Colorado and by 2016 Colorado was completely sold out. It wasn’t until 2018 that Footprints Floors decided to expand nationally, growing from a presence in one state to 18 in just two short years. In the last few years, Bryan has found a calling in business mentorship, having now helped several first-time business owners find levels of success that they did not previously believe could be possible!

Training Description:

Training

To ensure our franchise owners are well-prepared for success, our comprehensive training program begins before they ever step foot in our Corporate Facility in Centennial, CO. Prior to attending in-person training, franchisees complete our online education platform, Footprints U, where they gain a deep understanding of industry standards and earn certification from the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA). This self-paced electronic coursework typically takes between 50–70 hours to complete.

Upon completion, franchisees are invited to our two-week, hands-on training program at our Centennial headquarters. This immersive experience blends classroom learning with real-world field training, covering all core areas of the business—including finance, sales, production management, and more.

Throughout this period, we activate marketing campaigns for both customer leads and subcontractor recruitment. We also assist in vetting subcontractors, so that by the end of training, owners return to their territories with scheduled estimates, ready-to-work crews, and operational momentum from day one.

Operational and Marketing Tools:

At Footprints Floors, we take our responsibility to support Franchise Owners seriously. Our goal is to help each owner maximize their revenue potential and operational efficiency through hands-on support and strategic resources.

We manage marketing budgets on behalf of our Franchise Owners and handle all appointment scheduling through our in-house call center. This centralized approach allows us to closely monitor performance, identify what’s working, and apply data-driven adjustments across the network. By leveraging economies of scale, we help ensure that every marketing dollar is used effectively and efficiently.

In addition to lead generation and scheduling, we provide robust ongoing support through regular calls, webinars, and training modules. We also nurture a unique peer-to-peer support system among our Franchise Owners. Much like a family, our owners actively collaborate, share insights, and look out for one another—creating a sense of community that is rare in the franchise world.

Field support is primarily delivered through a network of Franchise Owners who communicate daily via regional Google Chat groups, allowing for quick problem-solving and real-time collaboration. These groups are supplemented by paid consultants, available to answer questions and provide expert guidance as needed.

We also offer comprehensive assistance in promotional material creation and maintenance, including direct mail campaigns, print advertising, customer engagement, website development, SEO strategies, and continuous technology advancement—all designed to help our Franchise Owners grow their business with confidence.
