Prior to opening their stores, new Pet Supplies Plus franchisees attend a two week ‘on the job’ training at a certified Pet Supplies Plus training store with one of our certified trainers. Here they will learn how to unlock the store in the morning, lock it in the evening and everything in between. After training, the owners will receive a “Training in a Box” kit to help them train their staff on pet care, running the store and engaging with neighbors. Pet Supplies Plus realizes that the pet industry isn’t stagnate so our training isn’t either – all owners have access to training whenever they need it.
Operational and Marketing Tools:
OPERATIONS
All new owners will have a District Team Leader (DTL) assigned to them who will regularly visit their store and help them drive sales performance. They will work together to interpret business results, develop actionable business agendas, assess store conditions, execute developed marketing ideas and drive culture through store performance and neighbor engagement.
MARKETING
Pet Supplies Plus is in a unique position where we can leverage our size (almost 10 million neighbors in our database) to drive traffic while combining the engagement and local involvement of an independent pet store. We have a very strong Neighbor Relationship Marketing database that allows use to have a better handle on our neighbors buying behavior and from that we’ve developed a neighbor segmentation that allows us to communicate the right message at the right time. ie “Thought you’d want to know that (insert name of pet here)’s favorite food is on sale this week”, “It’s been three months since your last flea and tick purchase for (insert name of pet here). But, none of this high tech marketing matters without the high touch neighbor engagement that we pride ourselves on.
